A small steering committee made up of members from Honiton Memory Café, local groups and businesses and town councillors has met for the first time.

Its aim is to form a Honiton Dementia Action Alliance that will include most local groups, businesses and organisations.

Heather Penwarden, newly-elected chairman of the group, said: “Shops, businesses and organisations in Honiton are already known to be welcoming and friendly places.

“We believe that Honiton would be an ideal community to join the growing number of towns that go out of their way to be especially friendly towards people with memory loss and dementia.”
